After society falls apart, it’s clear we run out of almost everything. Shops shut down, there’s no more delivery trucks coming, and supplies start to dwindle. This is when people start to look to the wild – hunting, fishing, farming, and picking wild food to keep their families fed. But, it’s easy to forget about our pets during these times.
We have lots of different pets, from dogs and cats to birds, and even turtles, frogs, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, chameleons, snakes, and lots of fish. We’re used to just popping over to the pet store and grabbing a big bag of food for them, which can last a long time. But what do you do when you can’t do that anymore?

We often avoid giving our pets leftovers. But when everything collapses, we might not have a choice. It could become the first way we try to feed them. Still, this might not work for every pet, especially since many have special diets.
And it gets trickier with pets like birds, amphibians, and small animals like hamsters and gerbils, because they might not eat or get enough from just leftovers. That’s when looking for food in nature can really help.
