How to Stay Connected When Technology Fails Us!

During tough times, like big storms or other disasters, it’s really important to keep in touch with family and friends. Recently, due to severe weather phenomena like hurricanes and wildfires, a lot of people have found themselves without the usual ways to talk to each other, like cell phones and the Internet. But there are still some old-school methods that can help us send messages and stay connected until things get fixed.

Signal Fire

Long before we had phones, people used to send messages with smoke signals. Native American tribes were really good at this. They would light a big fire and then use the smoke to send warnings, tell where they were, or just say hi to someone far away.

Flag Semaphore

Another useful but not-so-common way to talk without words is by using flags. By holding up flags in certain ways, people can send messages, like asking for help or saying where they are.
